Local Programming To Automate Your Office
Windows Programming - Local - Network - Office Automation
Visual Basic for Applications (VBA)
This programming language is used for Microsoft Office Applications.
That includes all of your favorites such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Access. If you want your different Microsoft Office products to work together, then VBA is the programming language to use. The programming is embedded in the application and can take the form of a "Macro" to perform repetitive functions. It allows the information to flow from one application to another.
Microsoft Access
Access is Microsoft's database solution for small and medium sized offices.
This application deserves special mention. While Microsoft Access uses VBA, it has many capabilities not found in the other Microsoft office products. Microsoft Access is the fastest way create a database. It has limitations, but it has many benefits for small and medium-sized businesses. Database centered solutions can be developed approximately twice as fast using MS Access verses using VB Dot Net.
Custom Windows Programming (VB)
This is the standard programming language used by Microsoft Windows. These stand alone programs do not need other Office products to run. When you need features not found in Microsoft's Office suit, a custom Windows program is often the answer.
.NET Windows Programming
This is more than just an enhancement to Windows. It is a revolution in open architecture. Programmed in VB or C+, these two languages can be used locally on your network.
Web Programming
Web Site Design - Client Programming - Server Programming - Web Services
Client Side Programming
These programs execute on the clients browser (Internet Explorer, Netscape, etc.).
Static Web Pages
Static Web pages are files stored on the web server. They are simply served to the client and viewed on the clients browser. They're not created or modify by the server.
HTML
HTML is the programming language that is used by web pages.
It formats the text and creates the layout for the page.
Javascript
Javascript is used to extend the functionality of HTML.
When you move your mouse pointer over a button it's probably Javascript that changes the image. Global IT offers several standard Javascript functions that can be added to web pages. Custom Javascript functions such as checking a form for accuracy before it is submitted can be written.
Cascading Style Sheet
This file works in conjunction with the HTML to format the text.
The Style sheet is a central file that contains the style information. Easily edited and maintained, these global settings allow you to make the website consistent from page to page. You can change the styles on all the pages by editing the style file.
Server Side Programming
These programs execute on the web server where the website is being hosted. Our servers provide approximately 99.9% up time. We use the Microsoft .NET enabled web servers in conjunction with Microsoft Access or Microsoft SQL databases. Small amounts of data is stored using XML files.
Dynamic Web Pages
Dynamically created by a program on the web server. This allows total flexibility of client display. Input forms can collect data and store it in your database. Reports can be generated from anywhere at any time. Password protection can be used to protect all or some of your web pages.
Web Services
We can give you the capability of sharing some of your online database with others.
In the modern world, information flows and is updated in real-time. As information is needed, it is accessed via the web. When the information changes, everyone gets the updated information. New database standards allow you to expose part of your database, such as your inventory on hand, to the rest of the world. This allows the entire supply and distribution chain to interact. While computers may not take over the world, they have taken over the transfer of information.
